Job Description
The Mechanical Dynamics Engineer will serve as the in-house expert for spacecraft structural analysis and testing, ensuring component stress margins are compliant with launch environments, while also performing mechanical trade studies, vendor selection, and thermal analysis to support satellite manufacturing and deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform spacecraft-level structural analysis to ensure stress margins meet launch environment requirements
- Identify justified notch requests using force-limited methodology
- Correlate structural models with test data
- Conduct mechanical trade studies and vendor selection
- Develop mechanical layouts, interface designs, and drawings
- Oversee assembly testing of mechanical components
- Review mechanical analysis and test results from suppliers and payloads
- Perform thermal analysis of satellites to verify temperature limits
Requirements
- Experience in spacecraft-level structural analysis to ensure fastener and component stress margins of primary structures are compliant with launch environment requirements.
- Ability to identify justified notch requests through force-limited methodology.
- Ability to correlate models to test results, demonstrating proficiency in model-test correlation.
- Experience acting as a Mechanical Engineer at satellite level, including mechanical trade studies, vendor selection, mechanical layouts, interface design, drawings, and assembly testing.
- Experience reviewing mechanical analysis test results from suppliers and customer Payloads.
- Strong understanding of the fundamentals of satellite thermal design.
- Capability to perform thermal analysis of satellites to confirm temperatures remain within acceptable limits, through training if necessary.
