Job Description
The Energy Systems Research Engineer at Gridmatic focuses on developing probabilistic machine learning forecasts using large-scale data to optimize the operation of renewable energy sources and grid-scale batteries, ultimately driving real-time operational decisions and market trading strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop probabilistic machine learning forecasts using large-scale data such as weather, prices, load, and grid conditions.
- Optimize energy trading strategies based on forecasts to determine when to buy, store, or deploy power.
- Analyze and interpret data to support operational decisions in energy markets and grid management.
Requirements
- Experience in building probabilistic machine learning forecasts using large-scale data such as weather, prices, load, and grid conditions.
- Ability to develop operational decisions related to when power is bought, stored, or deployed based on forecast data.
- Demonstrated experience in energy forecasting, trading, or optimization within power markets such as ERCOT or CAISO.
- Proficiency in analyzing and ingesting large-scale data related to weather, prices, load, and grid conditions.
- Strong understanding of renewable energy sources, particularly solar and wind power, and their variability impacts on energy markets.
- Experience working in a collaborative environment that values rigorous thinking, autonomy, and continuous learning.
