Job Description
A Senior Software Engineer specializing in ML infrastructure, responsible for developing backend systems and tooling to support machine learning engineers in a clean energy startup focused on forecasting and optimizing renewable energy and grid-scale batteries.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and improve infrastructure and tooling to support machine learning engineers
- Collaborate with ML engineers to optimize backend systems for faster development and deployment
- Build and maintain scalable backend services for energy forecasting and trading operations
Requirements
- Experience working as a backend engineer with the ability to work closely with ML engineers to improve infrastructure and tooling.
- Proficiency in building and maintaining scalable, reliable backend systems that support machine learning workflows.
- Ability to develop and implement infrastructure solutions that enhance the speed and efficiency of ML engineering tasks.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles relevant to backend development, including data handling, API development, and system integration.
- Experience with large-scale data ingestion and processing systems, particularly involving weather data, prices, load, and grid conditions.
- Knowledge of probabilistic machine learning forecasts and their application in operational decision-making within energy markets.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment with a low-ego attitude, emphasizing rigorous thinking, autonomy, and continuous learning.
