Job Description
The role involves leading the corporate tax function, managing compliance, planning, and strategic initiatives to optimize tax outcomes for a global electric vehicle and energy storage technology company.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and oversee the preparation of annual domestic income tax returns and filings at federal, state, and local levels
- Manage tax-related documents, filings, and compliance processes
- Lead tax planning strategies to reduce tax expenses and mitigate tax exposures
- Supervise tax provision calculations, reserve requirements, and GAAP-tax reconciliation processes
- Collaborate with outside tax advisors on various projects
- Ensure organizational compliance with evolving tax laws and regulations
- Develop tax models to support financial planning and cash flow forecasting
- Advise senior management on global tax developments, investments, and strategies
- Manage transfer pricing planning and compliance
- Lead initiatives to expand international operations from a tax perspective
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Tax.
- CPA designation or Master's degree in accounting, tax, or related field is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of tax code, compliance, and procedures for corporations.
- Experience with U.S. federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
- At least 6 years of experience in corporate tax, preferably within a Big Four public accounting firm and a multi-national public company global tax department.
- Demonstrated ability to review annual domestic income tax returns prepared by a third party.
- Ability to oversee tax-related documents and filings including federal, state, and local tax returns, declarations, and extensions.
- Experience managing monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes, including provision calculations and reserve requirements.
- Ability to develop and implement global tax planning strategies to reduce tax expense, eliminate tax exposures, and maintain a competitive effective tax rate.
- Experience supervising and collaborating with outside tax advisors on various projects.
- Ability to prepare effective tax rate modeling to support long-range planning and cash flow forecasting.
- Experience managing the process of gathering, documenting, and reviewing GAAP-tax differences used in the tax provision process under ASC 740 (formerly FAS 109), including reviewing and approving the reconciliation of income tax balance sheet accounts and tax basis balance sheets.
- Experience in managing transfer pricing planning and compliance.
- Strong conceptual and business-oriented approach to communicate taxes and tax planning to non-tax business leaders.
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements, including the use of new tax technology and automation tools.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with great attention to detail.
- Proven ability to lead projects and manage critical timelines.
