Job Description
A Senior PLC Controls Engineer responsible for leading automation, troubleshooting, and optimization of manufacturing control systems for battery production lines, while mentoring team members and collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve process efficiency and stability.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and optimize PLC, HMI, motion control, and industrial networking systems on the production line.
- Diagnose and resolve automation issues affecting throughput, yield, and process stability.
- Reprogram, tune, and standardize PLC logic using Siemens S7-1500 TIA Portal and other platforms.
- Maintain equipment documentation, parameter settings, software versions, and backup libraries.
- Collaborate with Process, Quality, and Maintenance teams to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead controls-related Root Cause Analysis (RCA), FMEA, and DOE activities.
- Provide technical leadership and knowledge transfer to Controls Engineers and Technicians.
- Support new equipment integration, commissioning, and upgrades.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Automation, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 8 years of PLC Controls experience in a manufacturing environment, with preferred experience in assembly, automated production, and the automotive battery industry.
- Expert-level Siemens PLC programming experience using TIA Portal and S7-1500.
- Experience with industrial communication protocols including Profinet, Ethernet IP, and Modbus.
- Strong troubleshooting and electrical diagnostic ability to solve system-level issues independently.
- Ability to work onsite full-time in a fast-paced production environment.
