Job Description
This role involves serving as the primary legal advisor for Gotion's manufacturing plant in Manteno, IL, providing guidance on labor, corporate, and environmental law, supporting compliance, contract management, and legal risk mitigation to facilitate the company's growth in the clean energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary legal contact for the Manteno plant and advise management on legal matters.
- Ensure compliance with labor and employment laws, including union issues and employee relations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and corporate documents supporting plant operations.
- Provide legal guidance on corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
- Support environmental compliance efforts relevant to manufacturing activities.
- Collaborate with HR on workplace disputes, grievances, and disciplinary issues.
- Manage legal aspects of compliance programs, audits, and investigations.
- Work with external counsel on specialized legal matters.
- Monitor legal and regulatory changes impacting the plant and advise leadership accordingly.
- Contribute to establishing and developing the legal function for the plant.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (LL.M.) from an accredited U.S. or internationally recognized law school.
- Active license to practice law in Illinois or ability to obtain it in a timely manner.
- At least 5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably including in-house counsel experience in the manufacturing sector.
- Proven expertise in labor and employment law, including union negotiations and dispute resolution.
- Solid understanding of corporate law and contract management.
- Knowledge of environmental compliance regulations in the U.S. manufacturing context.
- Familiarity with Illinois state laws and regulatory environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal audiences.
- High level of integrity, judgment, and discretion in handling sensitive matters.
Benefits & Perks
U.S. base salary range of $180,000 to $250,000, plus eligibility for bonus and benefits
