Job Description

The Equipment Manager oversees all equipment-related activities in Gotion's battery pack manufacturing facility, including commissioning, calibration, maintenance, and continuous improvement, while leading a team of engineers and ensuring safety, quality, and operational efficiency in a high-volume, automated production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead equipment commissioning, calibration, validation, and performance verification for new and existing production lines.
  • Manage installation, calibration, testing, and validation of key battery pack manufacturing equipment.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety.
  • Establish and improve preventive and predictive maintenance systems to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Collaborate with global teams and vendors to support equipment integration, alignment, and technical standards.
  • Build and lead a team of equipment engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff, providing coaching and development.
  • Oversee equipment lifecycle management, including installation, commissioning, upgrades, and obsolescence planning.
  • Support manufacturing processes by ensuring equipment performance meets production yield and quality targets.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and protocols related to high-voltage and battery manufacturing environments.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean, TPM, and Six Sigma to enhance equipment efficiency and reduce waste.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 7 years of experience in high-volume manufacturing.
  • 3 years in equipment engineering or maintenance leadership role.
  • Experience managing a team of over 50 equipment engineers, technicians, and maintenance supervisors.
  • Experience with automated manufacturing lines.
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs, robotics, servo systems, and industrial controls.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments, specifically related to battery pack production or similar industries.
  • Ability to lead equipment commissioning, validation, testing, and calibration activities for new production lines.
  • Ability to develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment operation, preventive and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety compliance.
  • Experience establishing and tracking KPIs such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), and downtime trends.
  • Ability to lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Experience managing equipment lifecycle including installation, commissioning, qualification, validation, upgrades, retrofits, and obsolescence management.
  • Ability to develop long-term asset management strategies, manage capital equipment planning, and budget forecasting.
  • Experience supporting critical manufacturing processes of battery pack production and ensuring equipment performance meets yield and quality targets.
  • Knowledge of safety standards including OSHA, NFPA, environmental, and battery safety standards, with ability to enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and high-voltage safety protocols.
  • Ability to participate in safety audits and risk assessments, ensuring safe handling of materials used in battery pack production.
  • Experience leading a team in a manufacturing environment, including developing training programs, succession planning, and fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to coordinate cross-functional teams and present technical updates to senior management.
  • Ability to oversee installation, commissioning, qualification, and validation of new equipment and future projects.
  • Experience managing budgets, vendor relationships, and spare parts inventory, including negotiating service contracts and support agreements.
  • Willingness to work in manufacturing floor environments that include dry rooms and high-voltage areas, requiring PPE and adherence to strict safety standards.
  • Availability for occasional international travel for equipment validation or supplier visits.
  • Ability to align equipment and process activities to battery pack production and line assembly requirements.

Benefits & Perks

Compensation/salary range: $150,000 - $180,000 plus eligibility for bonus and benefits
