Job Description

The role involves designing and supporting battery energy storage systems (ESS) for various applications, providing pre-sales technical support, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring successful customer engagement and product development in the renewable energy and electric vehicle sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Design and conceptualize battery systems tailored for specific applications, optimizing performance, safety, and cycle life.
Provide pre-sales technical support and develop documentation to ensure high-quality ESS system designs and successful customer engagement.
Manage technical account engagements throughout pre- and post-sales phases, including planning, installation, and operation.
Support utility-scale and commercial projects with customized design solutions to secure design wins and reduce customer costs.
Collaborate with R&D and product teams to identify product issues and recommend improvements based on field feedback.
Coordinate field testing of hardware and software, collecting feedback for product enhancement.
Work closely with customer support to address technical issues, ensuring high customer satisfaction.
Engage with customers and partners on ESS system applications, including system evaluation and integration with balance of system components.
Develop technical documentation such as specifications, manuals, safety certifications, and proposals.
Prioritize and manage technical support tasks within the sales pipeline, ensuring proper resource allocation.
Coordinate with R&D, design, and pre-sales teams to prepare ESS products for market success.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of battery systems into larger products or systems.
Lead the development and promotion of technical tools and training for sales teams, partners, and distributors.
Act as a technical liaison for customer feedback, product issues, and solutions, maintaining a closed-loop communication process.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
Practical experience with distributed PV solar and energy storage system applications.
2-5 years of experience in ESS engineering design, technical pre-sales support, and project management.
Strong knowledge of certification and regulatory codes for ESS installations and development.
Ability to conceptualize and design battery systems based on project requirements, including selecting appropriate battery chemistries, cell configurations, and packaging designs to optimize performance, energy density, safety, and cycle life.
Experience in systems design module and pack design with a focus on design and application-oriented solutions for ESS applications.
Experience in pre-sales technical support for customer account engagements, including development of documentation, best practices, and training to ensure high-quality design and minimal post-sales technical support issues.
Experience in pre- and post-sales management of technical account engagements to develop and communicate comprehensive design, installation, and operational plans for successful ESS solution adoption.
Proficiency in supporting utility-scale and commercial projects with customized design support to ensure design wins and cost savings for customers.
Ability to lead product management and development of market training and technical tools addressing best practices and requirements.
Experience coordinating field testing and feedback collection for new hardware and software.
Ability to work closely with Customer Support to enable a closed-loop system on key technical and product issues and ensure high customer satisfaction, especially with top installer accounts.
Experience engaging with customers on ESS system applications and collaborating with partners for balance of system equipment, software EMS integration, and EPC.
Development of technical documentation including technical specifications, manuals, safety certifications, and technical diligence proposals.
Ability to work closely with sales teams to prioritize account project opportunities and ensure coordination with technical resources.
Experience working with R&D, design, and pre-sales teams in China to ensure proactive participation in test requirements, procedures, and plans for ESS products.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers, as well as suppliers, to ensure seamless integration of battery systems.
Participation in design reviews, meetings, and discussions to exchange ideas, provide technical expertise, and gather feedback.
Experience leading and collaborating with Product Management on technical tools and training, and driving adoption through sales teams, partners, and distributors.
Acting as a sales focal point for technical feedback and solutions related to product issues.
Managing the closed-loop process with product management, customer support, and sales on field pre-sales topics and issues.
Fluency in English; proficiency in German and/or Chinese is a plus.
Willingness to travel internationally.
