Job Description

The Senior Vice President of Virtual Power Plants will lead the development and execution of strategies for integrating distributed energy resources into utility grid programs, managing utility partnerships, and driving revenue growth through innovative DERMS and VPP solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Design and execute GoodLeap's Virtual Power Plant (VPP) and Distributed Energy Resources Management System (DERMS) strategy
Integrate distributed energy resources such as solar, batteries, smart thermostats, and EV chargers into utility grid programs
Lead development of proprietary DERMS and related software platforms to meet utility and grid operator needs
Establish and maintain utility partnerships, negotiate commercial agreements, and navigate regulatory and market frameworks
Serve as primary interface with utilities, ISOs, RTOs, regulators, and technology partners
Drive revenue growth, program adoption, and scaling of DER assets

Requirements

Experience in owning the design and execution of Virtual Power Plant (VPP) and Distributed Energy Resources Management System (DERMS) strategies, including integrating distributed energy resources such as solar, battery storage, smart thermostats, and EV chargers into utility grid programs.
Proven track record in utility partnerships and enterprise sales, with the ability to structure and negotiate complex commercial agreements.
Ability to navigate regulatory and market frameworks for demand response, capacity, and ancillary services.
Experience serving as the primary interface with utilities, Independent System Operators (ISOs), Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs), regulators, and technology partners.
Demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth, program adoption, and scale across owned and partner Distributed Energy Resources (DER) assets.
Strong understanding of utility grid integration, demand response, capacity markets, and ancillary services.
Experience developing and leading proprietary DERMS and related software platforms to meet utility and grid operator needs.
Ability to work in a collaborative environment and manage additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisors or managers.
Educational background or equivalent experience relevant to energy systems, utility operations, or related fields (implied but not explicitly specified).
