Job Description
Develops and maintains real-time backend software in modern C for autonomous vehicle telemetry, communication, and safety-critical workflows, collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize system performance and reliability in a driverless logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement backend software in modern C for vehicle telemetry, communication, and system state management
- Architect low-latency, high-reliability communication protocols for real-time data exchange
- Develop safety-critical user workflows for vehicle state transitions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with stakeholder needs
- Perform performance analysis and optimization of highly concurrent software systems
- Interface with vendors to ensure technical alignment and integration
- Conduct on-vehicle testing, analyze functionality, and collect performance data
Requirements
- Master's degree in robotics, computer engineering, or a related field with 5 years of experience, or Bachelor's degree with 7 years of experience in autonomous systems or embedded software.
- Strong proficiency in modern C programming language, with deep expertise in high-concurrency systems for real-time or safety-critical applications.
- Solid understanding of communication protocols, including TCP IP, UDP, and custom transport layers.
- Strong grasp of operating system fundamentals, including process priority, scheduling, inter-process communication (IPC), and performance optimization on distributed platforms.
- Experience with robotics middleware, particularly ROS 2.
- Exceptional analytical and debugging skills, with a proven ability to work across disciplines and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to design and implement back-end software in modern C to support vehicle telemetry, communications, and system state management.
- Ability to architect low-latency, high-reliability communication protocols for real-time data exchange across distributed systems.
- Ability to develop intuitive and safety-critical user workflows to ensure clear and reliable vehicle state transitions.
- Experience performing metric analysis and performance optimization in a dynamic, highly concurrent software stack.
- Experience interfacing with vendors, ensuring alignment of technical goals, deliverables, and integration timelines.
- Willingness to participate in on-vehicle testing, conducting functional analysis of new features and collecting data on latency, throughput, and stream quality.
