Job Description

Gatik is seeking a Senior Staff Vehicle Harness Engineer to design, develop, and oversee power and signal distribution systems for autonomous trucks, from concept through production, ensuring integration and compliance with automotive standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and create engineering specifications, schematics, CAD models, and drawings for vehicle harnesses.
  • Own the device transmittal (DT) process for harness components.
  • Provide technical expertise on power, signal, and data bus distribution systems for autonomous vehicles.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop system specifications and address gaps.
  • Work with suppliers and vendors to build prototypes and production vehicle harnesses.
  • Develop and refine tools and methods for harness system development.
  • Mentor junior engineers on power and signal distribution principles and best practices.

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar engineering discipline, with MS preferred
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience with vehicle harnesses
  • Experience in delivering a system to production, from inception to production
  • Experience in the Automotive, Truck Transportation, and Autonomous Vehicle (AV) industry
  • Proficiency with Zuken.E3 software
  • Knowledge of advanced vehicle communication standards and requirements such as GMSL, Automotive Ethernet, CAN, CAN-FD, low voltage high power applications
  • Ability to size and select appropriate cables, connectors, and fuses
  • Ability to design mechanical components supporting the completion of the deliverables, e.g., brackets, housings, or pass-throughs
  • Proficiency with CAD and drawing software, with NX preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Strong computer skills with programming and scripting experience
  • Ability to create engineering specifications, requirements, schematics, CAD models, and drawings for vehicle harnesses
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers/vendors to build prototypes and production vehicles
  • Ability to develop and refine tools and methods used by the team
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers on principles of power and signal distribution and best practices

Benefits & Perks

Salary Range: 180,000-250,000 USD
Work schedule: Onsite 5 days a week at Mountain View, CA
