Job Description
A Senior Staff Software Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and supporting real-time, mission-critical software for autonomous vehicle systems, with a focus on C programming, system integration, and ensuring safety and reliability in an autonomous fleet environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support real-time mission-critical software for the autonomy stack
- Collaborate with research engineers to develop maintainable, testable, and robust software
- Architect and implement solutions to complex issues across the software stack
- Guide and mentor researchers and developers to optimize component performance and resource usage
- Review and refine technical requirements and translate them into high-level design plans
- Conduct code and design reviews and provide technical guidance
Requirements
- Strong fundamentals in software development practices and expertise in C language in a production-oriented environment
- Highly experienced C developer with a passion for enabling the world's first safe, reliable, and efficient network of autonomous vehicles
- Partner with research and software engineers to design, develop, test, and validate autonomous vehicle features for the autonomous fleet
- Design, implement, integrate, and support real-time mission-critical software for Gatik's autonomy stack
- Work with research engineers to develop maintainable, testable, and robust software designs
- Architect and implement solutions to complex issues between components partitioned across the large software stack
- Guide and mentor autonomy researchers and algorithm developers to ensure their components run efficiently with optimal compute and memory usage
- Review and refine technical requirements and translate them into high-level design plans to support safe autonomous vehicle technology
- Conduct code and design reviews and advise on technical matters
- Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related degree
- Possess a Master’s or PhD degree in a related field (preferred)
- Have at least 7 years of relevant industry work experience in a production environment
- Expertise in software development using C and build systems such as Conan, CMake, and Bazel
- Experience using software project management tools such as Jira and Confluence
- Proven system integration and software architecture skills
- Strong background in linear and non-linear optimization, linear algebra, or statistics

Salary range: $180,000 - $260,000
