Job Description

The HR Generalist role involves supporting Gatik's North America Fleet Operations by managing HR operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, enhancing employee relations, and contributing to culture-building efforts in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. The position requires hands-on support for field-based employees and collaboration with leadership to improve HR systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities

Act as the HR partner for Fleet Operations, supporting compliance, systems, and employee experience.
Manage daily HR operations for Fleet employees, including payroll, benefits, data integrity, and compliance reporting.
Oversee driver compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and Canadian CMV regulations, tracking violations and audit readiness.
Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees on employee relations and issue resolution.
Support HR lifecycle processes for hourly workforce, including onboarding, offboarding, PTO, and training.
Analyze workforce data and compliance metrics to identify insights and improve HR processes.
Facilitate onboarding and culture-building initiatives for new drivers and operational staff.

Requirements

Must be able to work onsite in Mountain View, CA 5 days per week.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR, ideally in startups or high-growth, fast-paced start-up environments.
Background in transportation, logistics, or field operations required.
Proven expertise supporting non-exempt hourly employees including multi-state regulatory needs.
Strong HR operations knowledge including onboarding, compliance, performance management, benefits, and employee relations.
High ownership, sense of urgency, and comfort with ambiguity, with the ability to figure things out and get them done.
Strong analytical skills and comfort working in spreadsheets and pulling actionable insights from data.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with a calm and confident communication style.
Experience with HRIS and payroll platforms such as Rippling, ADP, or similar.
Deep integrity, follow-through, and attention to detail.
Deep understanding of and ability to support compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and Canadian CMV regulations, including driver qualification files, medical certifications, and drug testing protocols.
Experience supporting employee relations matters professionally and confidentially, ensuring fair process and compliance with employment laws.
Experience supporting HR lifecycle activities for a predominantly hourly workforce, including onboarding, offboarding, PTO and leave tracking, training coordination, and issue resolution.
Ability to support and coach Fleet managers in effective people practices and policy interpretation.
Experience with HR tools such as spreadsheets and HR systems to analyze workforce trends and compliance data, and to surface insights for decision-making.
Experience working with HR systems such as Greenhouse is a plus.
Experience with PEO management such as TriNet is preferred.
