Job Description
The Head of Manufacturing at Gatik is responsible for leading the scaling, optimization, and quality of production for autonomous freight vehicles, managing manufacturing operations, supply chain, and retrofit programs to ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency in high-volume vehicle production.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead vehicle manufacturing operations for autonomous freight vehicles, including ramp-up and high-volume production.
- Manage relationships with external contract manufacturing partners to ensure quality, throughput, and cost efficiency.
- Plan and optimize factory floor layout, production processes, and manufacturing flow.
- Develop and implement scalable manufacturing and quality strategies compliant with safety and regulatory standards.
- Oversee field retrofit and upgrade programs for vehicles in operation, coordinating with service, engineering, and manufacturing teams.
- Support maintenance escalations, hardware repairs, and recalls to ensure vehicle reliability.
- Establish and enforce manufacturing procedures, build documentation, and quality processes based on automotive industry best practices.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to transition vehicle designs into reliable production.
- Drive continuous improvements in cost, yield, cycle time, reliability, and field performance metrics.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics, or a closely related discipline.
- 10 years of progressive manufacturing experience, with demonstrated leadership in scaling vehicle or complex hardware production environments.
- Proven leadership experience building and running manufacturing organizations within automotive, electric vehicle (EV), autonomous vehicle (AV), robotics, or complex hardware platforms.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing manufacturing and quality strategies that enable scale and operational reliability.
- Deep experience managing contract manufacturing partners and multi-vendor production networks.
- Hands-on background with vehicle electronics integration, harnessing, sensor mounting, and subsystem verification.
- Strong track record leading Quality teams and establishing robust quality management systems.
- Ability to drive cost improvement, efficiency gains, and production scalability.
- Solid project leadership experience managing builds, retrofits, New Product Introductions (NPI), and manufacturing ramp programs.
- Experience operating at a senior strategic level while remaining hands-on in execution.
- Strong technical understanding of automotive manufacturing processes, including vehicle assembly and verification procedures.
- Knowledge of safety-critical production environments.
Benefits & Perks
Salary range of $200,000 to $270,000
