Job Description
The role involves operating support vehicles as an onboard safety driver for autonomous trucks, ensuring safe testing operations, maintaining situational awareness, and supporting the development of autonomous freight transportation in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate support vehicle during testing operations
- Manage road interactions to maintain a controlled testing environment
- Monitor surrounding conditions and adapt as needed for safety
- Prioritize safety for all road users
- Maintain clear communication with the operations team following protocols
- Exercise situational awareness to identify and address potential challenges
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience driving a box truck
- Possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no major infractions
- Clean driving record and the ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear and effective reporting
- Critical thinking and decision-making abilities to handle high-pressure situations with composure
- Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including rotating shifts as needed
