Job Description
The role involves operating autonomous trucks as an onboard safety driver, testing and refining self-driving technology, ensuring safety and compliance, and providing detailed feedback to engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a box truck manually and monitor autonomous driving systems
- Collaborate with engineers to test and refine autonomous vehicle technology
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections and routine maintenance checks
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, HOS, DVIRs, and testing protocols
- Provide detailed feedback to engineering teams based on testing outcomes
- Prioritize safety for vehicle occupants, the public, and the vehicle during testing
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience driving a box truck
- Experience operating large box trucks 26 - 30 ft or tractor trailers
- Possess a valid Commercial Driver's License CDL with no major infractions
- Clean driving record and the ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear and effective reporting
- Critical thinking and decision-making abilities to handle high-pressure situations with composure
- Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including rotating shifts as needed
