Job Description
A Solar Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining residential and commercial solar, storage, and off-grid systems onsite, ensuring high-quality service and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to service calls for solar system issues
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair solar, storage, and off-grid systems
- Perform physical repairs or replacements on solar panels, including roof work
- Provide exceptional customer service to homeowners
- Communicate findings and follow procedures with management
- Complete paperwork, timekeeping, and inventory for service calls
- Collect payments and upsell services in the field
- Complete job disposition forms after each service call
Requirements
- Prior solar installation experience
- Valid Apprentice Electrician license
- OSHA 10 certification
- Valid Driver's License and willingness to travel regionally frequently
- Knowledge of local electrical codes
- Knowledge of residential PV design and components
- Thorough understanding of residential AC MicroInverters and DC String Optimizer PV systems
- Must have a thorough understanding of residential electrical systems and components, and how to work safely around residential electrical components
- Ability to work alone and with teams in a safe manner
- Ability to learn new technical skills and diagnostic troubleshooting processes
- Must be able to withstand heights, climb ladders, and be outdoors for long periods in hot and cool climates
- Physical ability to perform light lifting and carrying under 15 lbs, straight pulling, simple grasping, walking, standing, sitting, and operating office equipment and motor vehicles
- Ability to see, identify colors, hear with aid, write, count, read, and tell time
