Job Description
A Solar Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining residential and commercial solar energy systems onsite, ensuring customer satisfaction and system performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to service calls and troubleshoot solar, storage, and off-grid systems.
- Diagnose and repair residential and commercial photovoltaic systems.
- Perform physical repairs or replacements on solar panels, including roof work.
- Provide exceptional customer service to homeowners.
- Communicate findings and follow procedures with management.
- Complete paperwork, inventory processing, and timekeeping for service calls.
- Collect payments and upsell services or products in the field.
- Complete job disposition forms after each service call.
Requirements
- Prior solar installation experience
- Valid Apprentice Electrician license
- OSHA 10 certification
- Valid Driver's License with willingness to travel regionally frequently
- Knowledge of local electrical codes
- Knowledge of residential PV design and components
- Thorough understanding of residential AC MicroInverters and DC String Optimizer PV systems
- Thorough understanding of residential electrical systems and components, and how to work safely around residential electrical components
- Ability to work alone and with teams in a safe manner
- Ability to learn new technical skills and diagnostic troubleshooting processes
- Must be able to withstand heights, climb ladders, and be outdoors for long periods in hot and cool climates
- Physical ability to lift and carry under 15 lbs, perform straight pulling, simple grasping, walking, standing, and sitting
- Ability to see, identify colors, hear with aid, write, count, read, and tell time
- Ability to operate office equipment and motor vehicle
