Job Description
The Director of Credit and Underwriting for Equipment Finance is responsible for leading the credit function, developing credit strategies, overseeing underwriting standards, managing risk governance, and ensuring portfolio quality to support the company's growth and compliance objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, lead, and govern the credit function for the Equipment Finance platform.
- Develop and oversee credit strategy, underwriting standards, and risk governance.
- Manage portfolio quality and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Lead and develop the underwriting team to support national equipment finance growth.
- Serve as the senior credit authority, approving investments within delegated authority.
- Present transactions to the Credit Committee for approval.
- Design scalable credit processes and establish risk appetite frameworks.
- Partner with senior management to ensure disciplined growth and strong asset quality.
Requirements
- Full accountability for credit strategy, underwriting standards, risk governance, portfolio quality, and team leadership across the Equipment Finance platform.
- Partner closely with the President of Asset Finance, Credit, Portfolio Management, Risk, Finance, and management to ensure disciplined growth, strong asset quality, regulatory compliance, and attractive risk-adjusted returns.
- Design scalable credit processes, establish risk appetite frameworks, and maintain a high-performing underwriting organization capable of supporting a national equipment finance strategy.
- Serve as the senior credit authority for the platform and be responsible for investment approvals within delegated authority.
- Present transactions to the Credit Committee as required.
- Work primarily conducted in an office setting, with some positions possibly allowing remote work through technology at management discretion.
- Remain in a stationary position for extended periods as required.
- Use hands and fingers to operate technology or office machinery such as printers and scanners.
- Utilize a computer monitor with visual acuity.
- Communicate clearly, verbally and/or in writing, with others.
