The role involves leading the development, optimization, and scaling of wet slurry coating processes for all-solid-state battery anodes and sulfide electrolytes, focusing on improving electrode performance, quality, and manufacturing efficiency from R&D to high-volume production.
Key Responsibilities
Design, optimize, and scale wet slurry coating processes for all-solid-state battery anodes and sulfide solid electrolytes.
Develop novel slurry formulations and coating strategies to improve electrode-electrolyte interface, ionic transport, and cycling stability.
Establish and control critical process parameters such as slurry dispersion, viscosity, coating speed, and drying profiles.
Identify and address wet coating defects and implement corrective actions to improve quality and yield.
Collaborate with quality and production teams to define testing protocols, quality standards, and improve manufacturing efficiency.
Scale processes from R&D to pilot and high-volume production, troubleshooting equipment and process issues.
Partner with equipment vendors to develop, prototype, and validate next-generation wet coating machinery and automation solutions.
Requirements
A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in wet electrode coating manufacturing for lithium-ion batteries, with sulfide electrolyte system experience highly preferred.
Deep knowledge of wet process steps including slurry preparation, dispersion, deaeration, precision coating (doctor blade, slot-die), vacuum drying, calendaring, and lamination.
Proficiency in material characterization techniques such as SEM, XRD, and adhesion testing, as well as data analysis tools like JMP and Minitab.
Mastery of process quality tools including DOE, SPC, FMEA, and Six Sigma methodologies.
Experience in scaling processes from R&D to high-volume production.
Proven ability to collaborate with equipment suppliers on custom solutions for wet coating processes.
Familiarity with ASSB-specific process challenges such as moisture control, interfacial stability, and mechanical pressure sensitivity.
A Master’s degree in chemical, materials, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
Strong cross-functional skills to work effectively with R&D, production, and supply chain teams.
