The position involves leading the development and optimization of next-generation solid-state battery cells, managing engineering teams, and collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure successful product design, validation, and manufacturing for advanced energy storage solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of next-generation battery cells.
Manage multiple cell design teams and oversee finalization of cell designs for manufacturing.
Define cell bill of materials, create cell drawings, and ensure design requirements are met.
Lead product development processes including concept, design, validation, and testing.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement design improvements.
Execute Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and perform Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA).
Innovate through research, publications, presentations, and patents related to battery technology.
Design, validate, and analyze lithium secondary batteries for process and equipment improvements.
Develop and optimize large cell fabrication processes for manufacturing and quality.
Provide engineering support to resolve production and quality issues.
Lead design-for-cost and value-engineering initiatives.
Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to meet manufacturing capabilities.
Support scale-up and mass production of quasi-solid-state batteries.
Communicate with OEM customers regarding RFQ and RFI processes.
Requirements
5 years of experience in silicon or Li metal chemistry related lithium-ion battery product development from an established cell supplier or automotive OEM silicon cell development experience is mandatory
2 years of management or leadership experience
Experience in mass production of lithium batteries
Experience leading and developing strong teams of scientists and engineers
Good written and basic verbal communication skills in English
Fully located on-site in South Korea, working closely with the US team requiring occasional late-night overlap
Ability to take team feedback and incorporate it into designs, as well as give constructive feedback to others
