Job Description
A Database Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise geospatial databases, collaborating with clients to develop scalable and secure data solutions, and supporting GIS applications using Esri technology and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Consult with customers to understand business and technical requirements for enterprise database design and implementation
- Design, implement, and configure scalable, secure, and robust database solutions supporting mission-critical applications
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout all phases of database projects, including requirements, analysis, design, build, and deployment
- Configure and maintain database environments, including backup, restore, high-availability, and disaster recovery strategies
- Monitor, tune, and optimize database performance using industry-standard tools and methodologies
- Implement data security measures, access controls, and ensure compliance standards across database environments
- Automate routine database tasks such as data loading, maintenance, and monitoring to improve efficiency
Requirements
- 8 years of hands-on experience in database design, administration, and optimization for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or SAP HANA
- Demonstrated experience with database design principles, data loading techniques, backup and recovery solutions, performance monitoring and tuning, database maintenance, and security
- Scripting skills in SQL and Python for automation and data workflows
- Experience with cloud-based database solutions such as AWS RDS and Azure SQL Database
- Basic understanding of geospatial concepts such as spatial data types, coordinate systems, and spatial indexing
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to technical peers and non-technical project managers or customers
- US citizenship and willingness and ability to maintain a US Security Clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, GIS, or related STEM field
