Job Description
This role involves developing and supporting GIS software libraries and applications, working closely with developers and users to improve product features, documentation, and workflows related to mapping, spatial analysis, and data visualization across multiple platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Explore and understand user challenges to improve user experience and provide feedback.
- Gather requirements and use cases from software developers to inform product improvements.
- Build GIS datasets, maps, sample applications, and articles to demonstrate product capabilities and guide users.
- Design, create, and validate GIS datasets and workflows supporting field mapping, data collection, and spatial analysis.
- Describe GIS best practices and demonstrate workflows through meetings, forums, publications, and events.
- Document technical topics and produce developer-focused product documentation.
- Collaborate in SDK environments to investigate issues, prototype enhancements, and develop test code.
- Administer, automate, and manage online and database GIS systems and services for product development and releases.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of GIS experience such as modeling, analyzing, or presenting geospatial data in a scientific, engineering, governmental, or post graduate academic environment
- Proficiency with mapping, spatial data or GIS platforms such as ArcGIS or QGIS
- Strong problem-solving and analytic skills
- Proven initiative and creativity to find ways to explore, investigate, test and validate software behavior
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
- Experience of, and interest in, scripting or coding to appreciate developer users challenges and to communicate effectively with the development team
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, geography, computer science, engineering, or a related field
- Existing work authorization for the United Kingdom
