Job Description
This role involves testing and ensuring the quality of web-based GIS software, collaborating with product and engineering teams to validate functionality, automate tests, and assess release readiness in an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product and software engineers to clarify acceptance criteria and develop test coverage.
- Perform risk-based testing of functionality, including accessibility, internationalization, security, and privacy validation.
- Conduct exploratory and scenario-based testing to identify usability, edge cases, and integration issues.
- Validate and triage defect reports, collaborating with support services and development teams for resolution.
- Communicate quality status, risks, and recommendations to support release decisions.
- Review automated test coverage and results to identify gaps and suggest improvements.
- Lead risk assessments for features to inform testing focus and release readiness.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of QA experience testing modern web applications in an Agile environment.
- Experience with web UI test automation tooling such as Playwright.
- Experience testing REST APIs and validating integrations using JSON over HTTP.
- Familiarity with JavaScript and TypeScript to read and reason about automated test cases to better understand coverage and recommend areas for improvement.
- Intermediate understanding of web fundamentals including HTML, CSS, components, APIs, and UI/UX principles.
- Intermediate understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and internationalization/localization (i18n/l10n) practices.
- Proven problem-solving skills to isolate issues, document clearly, and collaborate effectively to resolve product deficiencies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, GIS, Information Science, or another related technical field.
