This role involves testing and ensuring the quality of web-based GIS software, collaborating with product and engineering teams to validate functionality, automate tests, and assess release readiness in an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with product and software engineers to clarify acceptance criteria and develop test coverage.
Perform risk-based testing of functionality, including accessibility, internationalization, security, and privacy validation.
Conduct exploratory and scenario-based testing to identify usability, edge cases, and integration issues.
Validate and triage defect reports, collaborating with support services and development teams for resolution.
Communicate quality status, risks, and recommendations to support release decisions.
Review automated test coverage and results to identify gaps and suggest improvements.
Lead risk assessments for features to inform testing focus and release readiness.
Requirements
At least 2 years of QA experience testing modern web applications in an Agile environment.
Experience with web UI test automation tooling such as Playwright.
Experience testing REST APIs and validating integrations using JSON over HTTP.
Familiarity with JavaScript and TypeScript to read and reason about automated test cases to better understand coverage and recommend areas for improvement.
Intermediate understanding of web fundamentals including HTML, CSS, components, APIs, and UI/UX principles.
Intermediate understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and internationalization/localization (i18n/l10n) practices.
Proven problem-solving skills to isolate issues, document clearly, and collaborate effectively to resolve product deficiencies.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, GIS, Information Science, or another related technical field.
