Job Description
A technical writer responsible for creating and maintaining user assistance documentation and enablement materials for GIS software products, collaborating with engineering teams to ensure clear, consistent, and user-friendly content throughout the software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with software engineers to produce and maintain user assistance documentation and enablement materials.
- Support various UA materials, including help files, tutorials, blog articles, and videos.
- Manage documentation throughout the software development cycle to meet release requirements.
- Create content that aligns with Esri style guidelines to ensure a consistent user experience.
- Provide functionality feedback and usability testing as part of the product development team.
- Develop and maintain a network with product management and marketing teams to ensure cohesive content and user experience.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a similar position supporting responsibilities related to technical writing and documentation.
- An understanding of documentation workflows that use HTML, XML, DITA, or Markdown.
- Experience producing web-based documentation using a content management system (CMS) that involves versioning and reuse of content.
- Ability to learn and use software as a customer would to produce user assistance (UA) materials based on the experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex topics concisely, clearly, and effectively.
- Effective time management and organizational skills to manage priorities and tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
- Experience with IT observability system monitoring software or ArcGIS software.
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, English, technical writing, or a related field.

Base salary range of $76,960 to $128,544 USD
