Job Description
A Database Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise geospatial databases, collaborating with clients to develop scalable and secure data solutions, and supporting GIS applications using Esri technology and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, secure database solutions supporting mission-critical applications
- Lead technical discussions on data architecture and database design with customers
- Configure, monitor, and tune database environments for performance and security
- Automate routine database tasks to improve efficiency
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout all implementation phases
Requirements
- 8 years of hands-on experience in database design, administration, and optimization for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or SAP HANA
- Demonstrated experience with database design principles, data loading techniques, backup and recovery solutions, performance monitoring and tuning, database maintenance, and security
- Scripting skills in SQL and Python for automation and data workflows
- Experience with cloud-based database solutions such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database
- Basic understanding of geospatial concepts such as spatial data types, coordinate systems, and spatial indexing
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to technical peers and non-technical project managers or customers
- US citizenship and willingness and ability to maintain a US Security Clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, GIS, or related STEM field
