Job Description
Entry-level engineers, scientists, chemists, and technicians will provide technical support for research projects related to environmental science, atmospheric sciences, and air quality modeling, working in specialized laboratories and contributing to the development, design, and execution of technical research for the US EPA.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support in the development, design, and execution of research projects related to atmospheric sciences, chemical, biological, toxicological, and exposure assessments.
- Conduct research activities including measurement method validation, source emission characterization, and data collection.
- Operate and work in specialized laboratories and machine shops, including fabrication, metrology, analytical, and microbiological labs.
- Assist in designing, developing, and optimizing solutions for technical projects.
- Contribute to writing work plans, quality assurance plans, health and safety plans, and technical reports.
Requirements
- The candidate must have a strong technical background relevant to engineering, science, chemistry, or related fields.
- The candidate must have excellent problem-solving skills.
- The candidate must have the ability to collaborate across teams to drive innovation.
- The candidate must be highly motivated with the skills to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- The candidate must be a recent graduate or early-career professional seeking hands-on experience in technical research projects.
- The candidate must be able to provide input to senior staff to write work plans, quality assurance project plans, health and safety plans, and reports for work being performed.
- The candidate must be willing to work in specialized laboratories and machine shops, including fabrication machine shops, Metrology laboratories, and microbiological laboratories.
- The candidate must be able to support research activities including decontamination and consequence management research, development and validation of measurement methods, source emission characterizations, and data collection in atmospheric sciences, physical, chemical, biological, toxicological, and human and ecological exposure development, evaluation, and application of air quality simulation modeling.
- The candidate must be able to perform activities related to working in specialized laboratories and machine shops, including fabrication, metrology, analytical, and microbiological laboratories.
- The candidate must be able to design, develop, and optimize solutions and execute technical projects as an entry-level professional.
