Job Description
The Engineering Manager at EnergyHub leads a team of engineers focused on developing and maintaining scalable platform capabilities, driving strategic initiatives, and collaborating across teams to enhance energy management solutions that support a clean, distributed energy future.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, manage, and mentor a team of engineers working on shared platform capabilities
- Partner with cross-functional teams to define the team's mission, vision, and roadmap
- Provide strategic oversight, architectural direction, and execute new team initiatives
- Act as a technical partner to Product, QA, Analytics, and client-facing teams, translating needs into technical plans
- Ensure the team delivers quality, scalable, well-tested code on time and within scope
- Continuously improve team processes, organizational evolution, and technical skills through coaching and code reviews
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience directly managing teams of developers, ideally with teams of 5-7 members.
- Core technical knowledge and experience with Java, Spring, AWS EC2, ECS, MongoDB, and PostGres.
- Experience with other technologies such as Python and C .NET to drive automation and micro-service efforts.
- Strong foundational understanding of computer science principles and SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) best practices.
- Experience with architecture, scalability, and reliability as we develop consumable APIs.
- Ability to learn from challenging projects with appropriate corrections to improve process, resource, and coaching.
- Ability to work well with ambiguity and in a dynamic work environment.
- Belief in a test-first approach to coding.
