Job Description
The Engineering Fellow at Energy Solutions provides technical leadership in energy efficiency, decarbonization, and policy development, focusing on advancing codes, standards, and innovative solutions across commercial and industrial systems to promote a low-carbon future.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead strategies to optimize energy savings, load management, and GHG reductions through codes, standards, and energy policies.
- Oversee research, technical analysis, and stakeholder engagement related to energy-efficient and low-carbon technologies.
- Manage analysis of the impacts of energy-efficient technologies, including cost, savings, and market effects.
- Supervise product testing and data collection activities to support policy development.
- Participate in industry working groups and technical committees to update standards and test procedures.
- Build strategic partnerships with industry stakeholders to support feasible and equitable policy proposals.
- Develop technical reports, including energy savings, cost-effectiveness, and market impact analyses.
- Present technical information to diverse audiences and represent clients in public meetings and rulemakings.
- Provide oversight and guidance to project teams, ensuring quality, budget, and schedule adherence.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering and or PE license in mechanical engineering is preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of engineering or work experience demonstrating leadership in related areas of commercial and industrial product efficiency, such as pumps, motors, and other industrial efficiency and decarbonization projects.
- Excellent verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to write reports, technical papers, and provide technical presentations to knowledgeable audiences.
- Experience in the development process of energy codes such as Title 24, ASHRAE 90.1, ASHRAE 189, IECC, or other energy codes.
- Experience in the development process of California’s Title 20, US DOE’s Appliance and Equipment Standards Program, or other state, national, or international appliance or equipment standards efforts.
- Experience representing large organizations in public meetings, including government hearings.
- Track record of success working in collaborative roles with diverse teams of partners and industry stakeholders.
- Existing network of professional contacts that contribute to codes and standards development.
- Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges to support the company’s mission.
- Willingness to conduct occasional business travel.
- Ability to develop and lead both short-term and long-term strategies to optimize energy savings, load management potential, and GHG reductions through codes, standards, or other energy policy proposals.
- Ability to oversee the work of subject matter experts with deep knowledge of specific commercial and industrial technologies, steer research teams, technical analysis, and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to analyze the savings, costs, and impacts of energy-efficient and low-carbon technologies in the context of energy policy.
- Ability to oversee product testing and primary data collection strategies needed to fill data gaps in policy settings.
- Ability to participate in industry working groups and technical committees in support of voluntary or mandatory standards and test procedure updates.
- Ability to develop strategic partnerships with industry stakeholders to ensure policy proposals are feasible, equitable, and have stakeholder support.
- Ability to develop and deliver reports on technical topics, including energy savings analyses, cost-effectiveness analyses, and market impacts analyses.
- Ability to develop and deliver technical presentations to clients, government decision makers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to represent clients in public meetings, negotiated rulemakings, and publicly docketed comments.
- Experience providing oversight and guidance for supporting staff and team members contributing to technical activities.
- Proven ability to lead the overall direction, management, quality control, and completion of project deliverables within budget and schedule with minimal oversight.
- Experience working on energy efficiency, demand management, and decarbonization initiatives for residential, commercial, and industrial products and buildings.
- Comprehensive understanding of equipment efficiency and system design interactions to achieve enhanced energy performance.
- Real-world field experience designing, installing, and/or managing energy efficiency systems and projects.

Compensation salary range of $135,000 - $165,000, commensurate with experience
