Job Description
The role involves leading business growth and strategy development for an energy solutions company, overseeing proposal development, managing pipelines, and collaborating with teams to deliver large-scale environmental and energy efficiency projects across various markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Growth Management and Strategy team, including proposal managers, writers, and research analysts.
- Oversee the development, review, and submission of competitive bid proposals for various clients.
- Manage research projects to identify market trends, insights, and internal metrics to inform strategy.
- Ensure communication and coordination between business development teams and senior leadership.
- Develop and execute business development plans across multiple energy-related sectors.
- Drive and support the use of Salesforce and other platforms for pipeline management and revenue forecasting.
- Analyze market share and competitor data to inform opportunity development and growth strategies.
- Coordinate with business development staff to develop capture strategies and cross-selling opportunities.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and business units to align strategies and operational plans.
Requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required; a master’s degree is a plus; degree in business-related, STEM, or environmental discipline preferred.
- 12 years of work experience in consulting or the energy industry.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, account management, or industry-related sales with strong business and financial acumen.
- Proven record of success developing new business and strong relationships with utilities, including an established national network of utility and regulatory contacts.
- Proven track record of strategic account management.
- Proven experience leading proposal teams and providing strategic oversight and input on program design, partner strategy, budget, and proposals that lead to a high win rate for the company, including both existing and new clients.
- Demonstrated experience managing and implementing utility or other client IDSM delivery projects or programs.
- Expertise managing and collaborating with operational teams to deliver outcomes to clients.
- Expertise in Salesforce, including managing and supporting pipeline and revenue forecasting.
- Proficient in the use of digital collaboration tools, specifically Microsoft 365 Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Slack is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to gain support and establish working relationships with program and project managers, technical leads, subject matter experts, peers, and all levels of internal staff.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to leverage these skills across various platforms.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collegial, and highly collaborative environment that is fast-paced and dynamic.
- Ability to develop and manage execution of business development plans across multiple areas including Energy Efficiency, Demand Management, Codes and Standards, Distributed Energy Resources, Clean Transportation, Building Electrification, and Clean Heating.
- Ability to develop joint, comprehensive capture strategies for all products and services, including cross-selling opportunities.
- Ability to coordinate business development staff throughout the company to develop and implement sales strategies and account management plans.
- Ability to develop statistical forecasts for future revenue based on sales pipelines using internal modeling tools.
- Ability to identify shortfalls in pipeline goals and prioritize opportunity development accordingly.
- Ability to maintain and track market share information for each major product line and understand competitor market share.
- Ability to support and collaborate with senior leadership and business unit VPs on strategy and companywide communication.
- Must be able to perform background checks, drug screening, and have authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely.
- Reside within 40 miles of an office location (except New York) or be willing to work remotely, with in-office attendance requirements varying by team.
- Must not reside in Alaska, Delaware, Kentucky, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, or Wyoming, as applications from these states are not being accepted.
Benefits & Perks
Salary range of $145,000 to $180,000 annually, with target compensation of $145,000 to $171,000 based on experience and qualifications
