Job Description
The Managing Consultant in this role leads client-facing projects related to energy policy, planning, and analysis, with a focus on data centers, providing strategic guidance, managing workstreams, and delivering reports and presentations to stakeholders within a collaborative and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead client-facing interactions and project approach development for medium-to-large projects
- Direct workstreams within projects and contribute to written reports and presentations
- Deliver findings, summaries, and responses to client questions through presentations
- Oversee investigative tasks, manage existing tools, and lead proposal writing efforts
- Support planning, analysis, and implementation within the Data Center Practice, collaborating with utilities, policymakers, and data center operators
Requirements
- Deep understanding of the interdependencies between utilities, policymakers, and data center operators, with the ability to provide leadership and expertise across planning, analysis, and implementation within the Data Center Practice.
- Experience in leading client-facing interactions and playing a leadership role in identifying the approach and methods for medium-to-large projects.
- Ability to direct workstreams within projects and contribute heavily to written reports and papers.
- Proven ability to deliver findings and summaries to customers, including making presentations and replying to questions.
- Experience in overseeing the management of existing tools and leading efforts on proposal writing.
- Strong analytical skills and/or policy experience related to energy issues, with the ability to drive creative solutions to complex energy problems.
- Technical aptitude and deep subject matter expertise related to at least one of the practice areas: Climate Pathways and Electrification, Asset Valuation, Transmission, and Markets, or Integrated System Planning.
- Strong attention to detail and effective project management and leadership techniques to independently create and actualize work plans that are efficient while delivering high-quality guidance.
- Ability to work full-time in a hybrid and flexible work environment, including working extended hours in front of a computer screen and conducting meetings via telephone and virtual platforms.
- Must be able to work in San Francisco, CA, or be willing to relocate or commute as required.
- Experience working with utilities, policymakers, and data center operators, requiring a deep understanding of sector interdependencies.
