Job Description

The Managing Consultant at E3 leads client-facing projects related to energy policy, planning, and analysis, with a focus on data centers, providing strategic guidance, managing workstreams, and delivering high-impact reports and presentations in a collaborative, hybrid work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead client-facing interactions and project approach development for medium-to-large projects
  • Direct workstreams within projects and contribute to written reports and presentations
  • Deliver findings, summaries, and presentations to clients and stakeholders
  • Oversee investigative tasks, manage existing tools, and lead proposal writing efforts
  • Support planning, analysis, and implementation within the Data Center Practice

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of the interdependencies between utilities, policymakers, and data center operators, with the ability to provide leadership and expertise across planning, analysis, and implementation within the Data Center Practice.
  • Experience in leading client-facing interactions and playing a leadership role in identifying the approach and methods for medium-to-large projects.
  • Ability to direct workstreams within projects and contribute heavily to written reports and papers.
  • Proven track record of delivering findings and summaries to customers, making presentations, and replying to questions.
  • Experience in overseeing the management of existing tools and leading efforts on proposal writing.
  • Strong analytical dexterity and/or policy experience related to energy issues.
  • Technical aptitude and deep subject matter expertise related to at least one of the practice areas: Climate Pathways and Electrification, Asset Valuation, Transmission, and Markets, or Integrated System Planning.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective project management and leadership techniques to independently create and actualize work plans that are efficient while delivering high-quality guidance.
  • Ability to work full-time in a hybrid environment, with flexibility to work extended hours in front of a computer screen, conduct meetings on the telephone and virtually, and travel 0-10%.
  • Must be able to work in an office environment at least 2-3 days per week, typically on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Minimum of several years of relevant professional experience in energy consulting, policy, or related fields, sufficient to lead projects and manage workstreams independently.
