Job Description
The Senior Principal Motor Control Engineer will develop high-performance control algorithms and models for electric systems such as motor-generators, power inverters, and energy storage, collaborating with hardware and mechanical teams to design, test, and improve system-level behaviors in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop high-performance control algorithms for electric systems including motor-generators, power inverters, and energy storage.
- Create, maintain, and utilize simulation and embeddable models for performance evaluation of electric systems.
- Derive and validate high-integrity plant and control models through simulation and testing.
- Auto-code from control simulations, hand-code, and develop hardware abstraction layers.
- Lead and support multiple projects related to advanced control power products and next-generation power solutions.
- Participate in the architecture, design, and implementation of motor control systems and power solutions.
- Collaborate with hardware, mechanical, and integration teams to design, develop, test, and improve system-level behaviors.
Requirements
- Develop high-performance control algorithms for electric systems, including motor-generators, power inverters, and energy storage.
- Create, maintain, and effectively use simulation and embeddable models of electric systems for performance evaluation.
- Derive high-integrity plant and control models and validate these models through simulation and testing.
- Perform auto-coding from control simulations, hand-coding, and coding of the hardware abstraction layer.
- Support and lead multiple simultaneous projects related to advanced control power products and implement next-generation power application solutions.
- Participate in the architecture, design, and implementation of motor control systems and power solutions.
- Work closely with hardware, mechanical, and integration teams to design, develop, test, and improve system-level behaviors.
- Possess the ability to support a small, fast-moving team and contribute to system-level development activities.
- Use appropriate PPE and follow all safety policies, practices, and procedures related to manufacturing and engineering environments.
- Be able to sit, stand for long periods, walk, grasp, reach with hands and arms, lift below and above shoulders, bend, twist at the waist, climb, balance, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, talk, hear, see, use fine finger manipulation, and complete repetitive motions.
- Some tasks may require the use of ladders or stairs.
- Some tasks may require driving or the use of foot controls.
- Lift, carry, and push/pull up to 50 pounds.
