Job Description

The Staff Accountant II at Cypress Creek Renewables is responsible for supporting the finance team with accounting tasks such as journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance, while also participating in process improvements and collaborating across departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly financial close processes
  • Reconcile bank accounts and post customer payments
  • Serve as a point of contact for invoice disputes and account reconciliation
  • Maintain schedules such as fixed assets, AR aging, and AP aging
  • Use accounting software to maintain records, generate reports, and improve processes
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and legislative requirements
  • Review open purchase orders and collaborate with operations to close stale POs
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance financial operations efficiency

Requirements

  • BS in Accounting or related major
  • 3 years of experience in an accounting role
  • NetSuite experience required
  • Proficient Excel capabilities and ability to analyze large excel-based data sets, including vlookups, pivot tables, and other common formulas
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles including ability to create journal entries and associated supporting documents
  • Ability to prepare journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assist with monthly and quarterly close processes
  • Experience reconciling bank accounts and maintaining schedules such as fixed assets, AR aging, and AP aging
  • Experience posting customer payments and serving as point of contact for customers on invoice disputes or account reconciliation
  • Ability to develop knowledge of applicable accounting standards and ensure ongoing compliance with relevant standards and legislative requirements
  • Ability to review open POs and work with the operations team to close out stale POs
  • Ability to participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations
  • Ability to learn new software quickly
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles including ability to create journal entries and associated supporting documents
  • Must be inquisitive, have the desire to learn and initiative to reach out to various departments to complete tasks
  • Organized, resourceful, and pays attention to detail
  • Must be a self-starter who handles multiple projects with competing priorities with minimal supervision
  • Needs to be a team player who does well with daily ad-hoc requests
  • Ability to identify problems and discrepancies, independently perform research and analysis of causes, and recommend corrective actions
  • Ability to work in a hybrid schedule with in-office presence three days per week in Durham, NC
