Job Description
The Senior Director of Project Execution at Cypress Creek Renewables leads and manages a team responsible for overseeing the successful development, construction, and commissioning of utility-scale solar and storage projects across the US, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget adherence while coordinating with various internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the project execution team overseeing late-stage development through construction and commissioning of solar and storage projects.
- Manage relationships and oversee day-to-day activities with third-party EPC contractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, on budget, and with high quality.
- Coordinate with multifunctional groups such as HSSE, Development, Project Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain, Legal, and Asset Management to execute pipeline strategies.
- Establish project management objectives and procedures, and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, quality, and performance standards.
- Monitor and support budget and schedule goals across multiple projects, supporting negotiations with suppliers and contractors.
- Oversee and ensure adherence to EPC contracts, including tracking deliverables, managing change orders, payments, disputes, and warranty claims.
- Provide guidance during project development, including feedback on permitting, utility, and labor requirements.
- Build and lead a team of project management professionals, ensuring successful project execution and internal stakeholder alignment.
Requirements
- BS in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or related discipline
- Experience managing a team to ensure the timely and safe execution of multiple energy projects through 3rd Party EPC contractors
- 10 years of experience in energy industries, construction or operations
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in power engineering design and or project management
- Minimum of 6 years in project execution of solar and storage projects preferred
- Expert level project management skills
- Process orientation and data driven approach to project management
- Experience negotiating and administering EPC contracts in conjunction with financing projects
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills
- Competent in Excel, Word, Salesforce, Procore, and ERP systems
- 30-50% travel expected for the position for office and site visits as needed
- Ability to coordinate across multifunctional groups including HSSE, Development, Project Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain, EPC Contracting, Legal, and Asset Management
- Ability to manage budget and schedule goals across the portfolio of solar and energy storage projects
- Ability to track EPC contract deliverables, schedules, payments, manage change orders, notices of disputes, and warranty claims
- Ability to provide guidance on earlier stage projects and feedback on local permitting, utility, and labor requirements
- Ability to build out and lead a team of project management professionals by example, maintaining accountability for project success
- Ability to ensure compliance with CCR priorities including Safety, Finance, Environmental, Quality, and Performance
- Ability to coordinate with Supply Chain and EPC Contracting Development to identify and order long lead equipment
