Job Description
The Senior Tax Associate at Cypress Creek Renewables is responsible for managing tax compliance, reporting, and research related to federal, state, and local taxes, supporting the company's renewable energy projects and ensuring adherence to tax laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and ensure the timely filing of federal, state, and local income tax returns, including reviewing workpapers prepared by external advisors
- Prepare federal and state quarterly estimated tax payments
- Assist in the preparation and review of HLBV calculations
- Compile supporting financial statements and documents for tax purposes
- Conduct tax research and prepare related memos
- Resolve federal, state, and local tax notices and audits
- Maintain, document, and develop income tax-related internal controls
- Identify and implement process improvements within the tax function
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Tax; a Master's degree in Tax is a plus.
- CPA license is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant tax experience with a large corporate or public accounting firm; Big4 experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience with tax return preparation, tax provision, and a strong understanding of common tax laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of accounting principles.
- Experience with federal, state, and local income tax compliance, including coordinating and ensuring the timely filing of income tax returns.
- Ability to prepare federal and state quarterly estimated tax payments.
- Experience with tax research projects and preparing memos.
- Ability to assist in the resolution of federal, state, and local tax notices and audits.
- Ability to compile supporting financial statements and documents.
- Experience with HLBV (Hypothetical Liquidation Book Value) calculations is implied through responsibilities.
- Ability to maintain, document, and develop income tax related internal controls.
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements across the tax function.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective communication with regulatory agencies, tax reviewers, auditors, attorneys, peers, and all levels of corporate management.
- Must be detail-oriented, resourceful, and organized.
- Ability to multi-task and work within tight time frames and deadlines.
- Must be a self-starter who can handle multiple projects with minimal supervision.
- People management and development experience is required.
