The internship involves applying quantitative analytics, machine learning, and optimization techniques to enhance revenue and manage risks in solar and storage energy projects, with opportunities to develop real-time algorithms and forecasting models in a clean energy environment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop real-time battery optimization algorithms using stochastic price forecasts
Create and implement MLOps frameworks for price forecasting models
Research and develop trading algorithms and risk-adjusted performance metrics
Requirements
Candidates must be graduate students pursuing a Master's or PhD degree in computer science, statistics, analytics, or related fields, and must include relevant coursework or experience in their cover letter or resume.
Candidates must be proficient in either Python or Julia programming languages.
Candidates must have a strong knowledge in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, stochastic optimization, model predictive control, or reinforcement learning.
Candidates should have domain expertise in energy markets, although this is preferred but not required.
Candidates must have a basic understanding of energy market operations.
Candidates must be able to work in one of the company's office locations in Chicago, IL; NYC; or San Francisco, CA, or remotely.
Candidates must be enrolled in graduate school (Master’s or PhD) and be available for a 10-12 week paid internship.
Candidates must be able to work on a hybrid schedule with a 3-week in-office schedule.
Candidates must demonstrate a strong desire to work in clean energy or clean tech industries post-college.
Candidates must include in their cover letter an explanation of their interest in energy analytics and the steps they have taken to deepen their understanding of the industry during the past few years.
