Job Description
The Director of Origination at Cypress Creek Renewables is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with market participants and customers to source, structure, and negotiate renewable energy offtake agreements such as PPAs and VPPAs, supporting the company's growth in solar and storage projects across the country.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with market participants and end-users.
- Source, structure, and negotiate offtake agreements including PPAs, Utility RFPs, and bilateral contracts.
- Develop and execute origination strategies targeting large load customers with holistic power solutions.
- Lead customer engagement, qualification, and outreach efforts to communicate product offerings.
- Leverage existing assets and pipeline to structure value-added products for customers.
- Support sourcing, negotiation, and execution of long-term PPAs, VPPAs, and innovative commercial structures.
- Represent the company in bilateral meetings and industry events to secure customer opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project development and commercial objectives.
- Prepare internal analyses, memos, and presentations; manage CRM systems.
Requirements
- Minimum five (5) years of experience with an Independent Power Producer (IPP), power marketing firm, corporate energy end-user, utility, or consultant with direct customer engagement experience.
- Experience sourcing and landing deals in the renewable energy or power sector.
- Experience managing customer relationships, including developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing customers.
- Knowledge of experience with datacenter power procurement, with relationships in this space being highly desirable.
- Existing network of potential customers, utilities, co-operatives, end users, and Load Serving Entities (LSEs).
- Knowledge of U.S. energy markets, Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) operations, and electric transmission systems.
- Knowledge of the physical transmission system and long-term procurement required to enable generation projects.
- Knowledge of Natural Gas markets and physical pipelines.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area.
- Experience leading contractual analysis and proposal submissions.
- Demonstrated ability to originate, structure, negotiate, and implement Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), coordinating with customers, internal stakeholders, and external advisors.
- Ability to identify and formulate risk management strategies for various offtake structures.
- Strong commercial capabilities to balance customer and business needs.
- Professional presence and excellent communication skills.
- Understanding of renewable generation technology, especially solar and battery storage.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
- Ability to develop and execute origination strategy, including offering holistic power solutions to large load customers.
- Support the sourcing, negotiation, and execution of long-term PPAs, Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPAs), and innovative commercial structures with corporate customers.
- Support internal and external processes related to offtake opportunities, including RFP engagements with regulated utilities and bilateral offtake negotiations.
- Build and maintain relationships with new and existing customers, manage customer engagement and qualification of opportunities.
- Contribute to marketing efforts and customer outreach to communicate key attributes of product offerings.
- Leverage the company’s pipeline and existing assets to structure value-added products for customers.
- Represent the company to potential customers in bilateral meetings and at industry events.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Revenue, Development, Project Finance, Fleet, and Solutions teams.
- Prepare internal analysis, memos, and presentations, and manage Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
