Job Description
A Solar Performance Engineer at Cypress Creek Renewables is responsible for monitoring and optimizing the performance of a large fleet of utility-scale solar assets through data analysis, automation, and collaboration with various teams to improve operational efficiency and support the company's renewable energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor long-term performance and fleet health of utility-scale solar assets
- Track KPIs and analyze performance trends and deviations
- Conduct statistical analysis of fleet performance and evaluate ROI of health initiatives
- Collaborate with development teams to provide feedback on energy models
- Analyze production and weather data to improve underperforming sites
- Collaborate with asset management to fulfill reporting obligations
- Lead automation efforts to optimize report speed and accuracy
- Read, debug, and modify Python-based sensor processing code and integrate third-party APIs
- Partner with software development to transform sensor data pipelines
- Build dashboards and reporting tools for fleet performance insights
- Develop SQL views for reliable data access from data warehouses
- Create predictive analytics models to identify maintenance risks
Requirements
- Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- 2-5 years of solar industry experience
- Familiarity with aspects of electrical maintenance, including DC systems, AC medium voltage systems, metering equipment, network communications, and monitoring
- Experience conducting statistical analysis on large datasets and writing SQL queries to work with databases
- Experience or training in data visualization software such as Sigma or Power BI
- 2 years of experience working with Python or other programming languages
- The ability to obtain unescorted access for NERC CIP facilities
