A Field Service Technician at Cypress Creek Renewables performs preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on utility-scale solar PV systems, ensuring safety and operational efficiency across multiple sites in a travel-intensive role.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine preventative maintenance on solar PV systems, including DC and AC testing
Maintain and organize tools, meters, vehicle, and spare parts inventory
Create service reports and document maintenance activities
Identify and address safety hazards in the field
Respond to emergency calls as directed by supervisor
Requirements
Possession of a valid Driver's License
Willingness and ability to travel up to 90% for work-related duties
Experience with PV maintenance, including PV DC operations, AC medium voltage systems, network communications, and monitoring, with a minimum of 3-4 years of relevant experience
Ability to perform on-site routine maintenance of solar photovoltaic facilities, including DC and AC testing such as polarity, open circuit voltage, grounding continuity, communication, insulation resistance testing, and I-V curve tracing
Proficiency with the use of testing equipment and tools such as thermographic electrical inspection devices, IV curve tracers, megohmmeters, and ground fault detection tools
Knowledge of National Electrical Code and standard design construction practices
Ability to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams
Proficiency with MS Office suite
Ability to take direction and complete tasks with minimal oversight
Ability to work in the field and in an office environment, with excellent attendance and punctuality
Understanding of and adherence to safety and quality procedures and practices, including PPE requirements such as hard hat, arc flash protection, safety glasses, and hearing protection
Physical ability to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk for 8-10 hours a day
Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis
Completion of OSHA 10 HR Training
Completion of NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace and Lockout Tagout procedures
sUAS Certification
Knowledge of and ability to identify safety hazards and take appropriate action to remove or eliminate hazards
Ability to create service reports and maintain spare parts inventory
Comfortable with frequent travel and working in remote outdoor environments
Experience with operation of SCADA, DAS, and UPS systems
Diagnostic capabilities to troubleshoot and correct electrical problems found in PV systems
