The Summer Associate role at Cypress Creek Renewables involves supporting the development of solar and storage projects through strategic analysis, cross-functional collaboration, and due diligence, with a focus on advancing renewable energy initiatives across various markets.
Key Responsibilities
Support development strategy through quantitative and qualitative analyses
Conduct cash flow modeling, market forecasting, and project cost and schedule analysis
Analyze market conditions, regulatory environment, and transactional trends
Collaborate with utilities, municipalities, legal, engineering, and external consultants to advance projects
Perform due diligence on greenfield development and project acquisition opportunities
Prepare marketing materials and internal memos for project sales and investment committees
Assist with day-to-day business activities related to project development
Requirements
BA or BS degree, preferably in a relevant field such as economics, political science, public administration, urban planning, engineering, environmental studies, or related disciplines.
Demonstrated interest in the energy sector, particularly project development.
2-4 years of relevant work experience in related fields.
Strong analytical skills, including experience with quantitative analysis such as cash flow modeling, forecasting addressable markets and customers, and project cost and schedule analysis.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to work with ambiguity.
Drive for quick results with a vision of long-term strategy.
Ability to collaborate effectively between multiple departments with varying priorities.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Willingness to support due diligence on greenfield development and project acquisition opportunities, including analysis of queue positions, transmission rights, and regulatory permitting processes.
Support live transactions through preparation of project sales marketing materials and internal Investment Committee memos.
Support the development of projects by working with utilities, municipalities, environmental professionals, legal counsel, engineering teams, external consultants, and EPCs.
Support cross-functional collaboration with project development, finance, operations, and analytics teams to leverage project and financial data systems.
Ability to perform qualitative analyses such as market condition analysis, regulatory analysis, EPC bid analysis, and analysis of transactional trends.
Preference for current 1st or 2nd-year graduate students in dual degree programs (MBA, MEM, MPP, etc.) in relevant fields.
Physical and mental capacity to support project development activities, including site selection, acquisition, and regulatory processes, as well as supporting active development of projects or portfolios.
