Job Description

The Visual Dimensional Inspector will perform visual and dimensional inspections of aerospace and marine gas turbine engine components to ensure airworthiness and conformance to OEM standards, supporting quality assurance during receiving, in-process, and final stages in a modern, technologically advanced facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Visually inspect aerospace and marine gas turbine engine components for damage and wear
  • Measure parts using various inspection tools to verify dimensions
  • Assess if parts meet standards for serviceability, reparability, and overhaul condition
  • Interpret OEM manuals and industry standards to ensure compliance
  • Document inspection findings accurately in reports
  • Review customer, vendor, and CRT documentation for accuracy
  • Report inspection results clearly, including details on location, size, and acceptability
  • Collaborate with engineering on new procedures and repairs for continuous improvement

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in aircraft maintenance, or similar experience in the civilian or military fields, or an applicable technical accreditation in a machine shop, manufacturing environment, mechanical engineering, or journeyman certificate.
  • Exposure to visual inspection methods, techniques, practices, and aids that are appropriate for the article being inspected.
  • Proficiency in the use of various gages to include calipers, borescopes, micrometers, optical or electronic comparators.
  • General knowledge of turbine engine components, functions, repairs and shop processes.
  • High school or technical school graduate or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform basic mathematical operations, including working with decimals, fractions, and basic shop math.
  • Previous experience, familiarity, or exposure with measuring gages such as calipers and micrometers.
  • The ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Careful attention to detail.
  • Motivated, enthusiastic, and willing to learn.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and standard software programs.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Pre-employment testing requirements that may include fitness for duty testing and a vision exam.
  • Ability to work in difficult positions, stand and/or sit for portions of the shift, and move parts weighing up to 50 pounds using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods.
  • Occasional use of powered and non-powered hand tools.
