Job Description

The Material Handler is responsible for tracking, organizing, and delivering parts through the repair process in a modern aerospace manufacturing environment, supporting production control and ensuring efficient workflow. The role involves physical movement of parts, use of electronic tracking systems, and collaboration with team members to maintain production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Track parts through repair processes and monitor completion times to increase throughput
  • Stage, organize, and verify parts in storage areas and during operations
  • Deliver parts to different departments and assist with shipping and receiving tasks
  • Use electronic tracking systems, including RFID technology, for part identification and location
  • Provide and manage equipment like skids, carts, and racks based on departmental needs
  • Coordinate part movements, including assigning ship dates and ensuring proper documentation
  • Assist with scrapping parts and verifying part information with engineering and quality teams
  • Maintain safety protocols and work in a climate-controlled environment
  • Handle physical movement of parts, including lifting and using handling equipment
  • Participate in structured training to develop necessary skills and knowledge

Requirements

  • One year's experience in a manufacturing environment or similar.
  • Experience in the use of skids, pallet jacks, and forklifts lift trucks.
  • Ability or experience following directions and reading work instructions.
  • High school or technical school graduate or equivalent.
  • Careful attention to detail.
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and standard software programs.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Pre-employment testing requirements that may include fitness for duty testing and a vision exam.
  • Work in accordance with general shop safety procedures including the occasional use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection.
  • Ability to work in difficult positions from time to time.
  • Ability to stand and/or sit for portions of the shift.
  • Ability to move parts weighing up to 50 pounds using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods.
  • Ability to move less heavy parts weighing up to 50 pounds with or without hoists, slings, or carts.
  • Use of powered and non-powered hand tools frequently.
