Job Description
The Non-Destructive Testing Technician-Level II inspects turbine engine components using nondestructive testing methods, such as penetrant and magnetic particle inspection, while completing training and certification to advance in the field within a state-of-the-art aerospace repair facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete on-the-job training and NAS410 certification for Level II in NDT methods.
- Perform nondestructive testing inspections on turbine engine components following OEM procedures.
- Set up, standardize, and operate NDT equipment; process parts; interpret and evaluate inspection results.
- Demonstrate understanding of the limitations of NDT techniques used for part certification.
- Conduct fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI) and fluorescent magnetic particle inspection (FMPI).
- Perform system performance checks in accordance with process standards.
- Receive guidance from certified Level II or III inspectors during processing and inspections.
Requirements
- One year of experience as a Level I or II in NDT methods for which qualification and/or certification is required.
- The ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions accurately, including reading and interpretation of shop drawings.
- Previous experience in the use of overhead cranes.
- Shown a previous ability to successfully pass skill level tests in other trades or disciplines.
- High school or technical school graduate or equivalent.
- Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Basic knowledge of computers and standard software programs.
- Previous experience and/or the ability to perform mathematical operations, including working with decimals, fractions, and basic shop math.
- Previous experience or familiarity with measuring gauges such as calipers and micrometers.
- Motivated, enthusiastic, and willing to learn.
- Ability to communicate and work in a team environment.
- Ability to meet pre-employment testing requirements, including a vision test to meet minimum standards for qualification, including color perception and near vision.
- Follow general shop safety procedures including the use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection when required.
- Work in varying positions, including standing and sitting for portions of the shift.
- Move parts weighing up to 50 pounds using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods.
- Occasionally use powered and hand-held tools.
