Job Description

The NDT Processor Level I is responsible for training in non-destructive testing methods, preparing and processing turbine engine components, and supporting inspection activities under supervision, in a modern aerospace repair environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete on-the-job training and obtain NAS410 certification in non-destructive testing disciplines.
  • Learn industry standards, regulations, materials, processing methods, safety policies, and documentation procedures.
  • Process parts, document results, and perform equipment standardization according to work instructions.
  • Prepare parts before and after inspection in accordance with work instructions.
  • Perform fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI) on parts.
  • Conduct system performance checks following process standards.
  • Receive guidance from Level II or Level III inspectors during processing activities.

Requirements

  • Previous experience and or exposure working in a manufacturing environment or technical position, with exposure to or familiarity with the principles of non-destructive testing highly desired.
  • The ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions accurately, including reading and interpretation of shop drawings.
  • Previous experience in the use of overhead cranes.
  • Shown a previous ability to successfully pass skill level tests in other trades or disciplines.
  • High school or technical school graduate or equivalent.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and standard software programs.
  • Previous experience and or the ability to perform mathematical operations, including working with decimals, fractions, and basic shop math.
  • Previous experience or familiarity with measuring gages such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Motivated, enthusiastic, and willing to learn.
  • Ability to communicate and work in a team environment.
  • Ability to meet pre-employment testing requirements, including a vision test to meet minimum standards for qualification, including color perception and near vision.
  • Follow general shop safety procedures including the use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection when required.
  • Work in varying positions from time to time, including standing and sitting for portions of the shift.
  • Move parts weighing up to 50 pounds using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods.
  • Occasionally use powered and hand-held tools.
