Job Description

An experienced CNC Milling Machinist Technician responsible for precision machining of turbine engine components in an aerospace and marine industry setting, working with advanced equipment and technical drawings to meet OEM specifications in a modern, safety-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC milling machines to machine turbine engine components to specified dimensions.
  • Inspect parts using gauges, micrometers, calipers, and other tools to ensure dimensional accuracy.
  • Set up machines, tooling, and fixtures according to technical drawings and work instructions.
  • Identify and correct machining issues related to tools, holders, collets, and chucks.
  • Perform finishing operations such as deburring, tapping, honing, and bench work.
  • Record inspection and machining data accurately in work documentation.
  • Follow safety protocols and company safety policies during machining operations.

Requirements

  • Five plus years of experience in operating CNC Milling equipment such as Johnford DMC, VMC, BMC in a job shop type environment and made-to-order environment.
  • First article experience in machining.
  • Five plus years of experience in creative problem solving on machine setups.
  • Experience in CNC programming, tooling, and fixturing.
  • Firm understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and critical dimensioning, including the relationship between dimensions.
  • Rework experience related to machining processes.
  • Technical high school diploma, machinist trade school, or equivalent work experience.
  • Set-up experience with tooling and fixtures with the ability to follow instructions per technical drawings or work instructions.
  • Familiarity with shop math principles and basic trigonometry.
  • Ability to indicate fixtures and parts to reduce runout.
  • Experience in setting adjustable tooling and understanding timing or rotational values.
  • Knowledge of using existing features to create a machining starting point and creating a flat plane for the start of the machining process.
  • Basic CNC macro coding experience.
  • Ability to use hand-held power tools, files, and perform assembly and disassembly tasks.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand English, and communicate effectively with other employees.
  • Must be able to move parts weighing up to 50 pounds using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods, and occasionally use powered and hand-held tools.
  • Follow established safety protocols and guidelines to ensure full compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Use approved gauges and tools, including inspection gauges, comparators, micrometers, and calipers, to inspect parts and determine required material removal.
  • Operate machines to remove material to achieve required dimensions prior to or after coating processes, including setting gauges to approved master gauges.
  • Identify and correct machining problems related to tools, holders, collets, and chucks.
  • Accurately record findings on work instructions and documentation.
  • Perform finishing operations such as deburring, tapping, honing, and bench work when required.
