Job Description

The Production Supervisor - TIG Welding is responsible for leading the weld team in a modern, climate-controlled aerospace manufacturing environment, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity in the repair and modification of turbine engine components using TIG and CNC welding techniques.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety protocols and guidelines are followed to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Oversee and monitor the execution of scheduled work to meet quality and productivity standards.
  • Review completed jobs to ensure adherence to work scope, quality expectations, and labor standards.
  • Adjust job assignments and workflows to meet production schedules in collaboration with planning teams.
  • Analyze daily labor metrics to assess and improve productivity.
  • Assign, verify, track, and monitor work using computer software applications.
  • Motivate, coach, and counsel team members to achieve performance goals.
  • Manage personnel work hours, shift schedules, time off, and overtime.
  • Conduct performance reviews, employee development, and disciplinary actions.
  • Collaborate with trainers and managers to improve employee skills and process efficiencies.
  • Lead department meetings and communicate changes affecting staff.
  • Apply technical knowledge in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG) and CNC welding for turbine engine component repair and modification.

Requirements

  • A minimum of two years experience in a supervisory role or similar in a manufacturing environment or aviation maintenance setting.
  • Experience in understanding and following verbal and written instructions accurately, including the reading and interpretation of technical drawings and work scope instructions.
  • Successful completion of skill specific TIG welding courses from an approved technical or welding school and or a minimum of two years TIG specific welding experience.
  • Previous certification credentials in an AWS welding classification, with AWS D17.1 preference.
  • High School graduate, with advanced educational accreditation preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and standard software programs.
  • Experience in interpreting and applying basic shop math and the use of measuring devices such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Overall knowledge of manufacturing processes and production equipment.
  • Follow established safety protocols and guidelines to ensure full compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Operate from a climate-controlled and modern welding department area.
  • Follow general shop safety procedures including the occasional use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection.
  • Stand and/or sit for portions of the shift.
  • Pre-employment testing requirements that may include fitness for duty testing and a vision exam.
