Job Description
The NDT Level II Inspector performs non-destructive testing, primarily penetrant testing, on turbine engine components, following safety protocols and certification requirements, while working in a modern, climate-controlled environment and participating in ongoing training to attain certification.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections on turbine engine components in accordance with OEM procedures.
- Set up, standardize, and operate NDT equipment such as penetrant and magnetic particle inspection systems.
- Interpret and evaluate inspection results for acceptance or rejection of parts.
- Record and document inspection findings accurately.
- Complete on-the-job training and achieve NAS410 Level II certification.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure compliance with company safety policies.
- Conduct system performance checks in accordance with process standards.
- Receive guidance from certified Level II or Level III inspectors when necessary.
Requirements
- One year of experience as a Level I or II in NDT methods for which qualification and or certification is required.
- The ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions accurately, including reading and interpretation of shop drawings.
- Previous experience in the use of overhead cranes.
- Shown a previous ability to successfully pass skill level tests in other trades or disciplines.
- High school or technical school graduate or equivalent.
- Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Basic knowledge of computers and standard software programs.
- Previous experience and or the ability to perform mathematical operations, including working with decimals, fractions, and basic shop math.
- Previous experience or familiarity with measuring gages such as calipers and micrometers.
- Motivated, enthusiastic, and willing to learn.
- Ability to communicate and work in a team environment.
- Must meet minimum vision standards including color perception and near vision as determined by pre-employment vision testing.
- Follow general shop safety procedures including the use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection when required.
- Able to work in varying positions, stand and/or sit for portions of the shift.
- Able to move parts weighing up to 50 pounds using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods.
- Able to move lighter parts weighing less than 50 pounds with or without hoists, slings, or carts.
- Occasionally use powered and hand-held tools.
- Must obtain supervisory prior permission for all shift early reports due to the complexity of processing parts.
