Job Description

The Sr. Manager of Development at Copia Power is responsible for managing the development of solar and energy storage projects from early stages through construction and commissioning, coordinating interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring projects meet strategic goals. The role requires strong project management skills and experience in renewable energy project development, particularly in the WECC and CAISO regions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a growing portfolio of solar and energy storage projects in the WECC and CAISO regions.
  • Lead a team to develop early and late-stage renewable energy projects and manage them through construction and commissioning.
  • Manage project budgeting, finances, timing, planning, risk assessment, and portfolio priorities.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary teams for land negotiations, real estate, engineering, permitting, interconnection, and legal.
  • Facilitate project permitting, including strategy, tracking efforts, and obtaining entitlements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants on project design, technology options, and procurement strategies.
  • Support negotiation of critical project agreements such as equipment supply agreements and PPAs.
  • Conduct due diligence on acquisitions, assess project risk and opportunity, and make recommendations on transactions.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of professional experience in managing the development of solar portfolio projects from early stage through construction and project commissioning.
  • Experience in renewable energy project development in the WECC and CAISO regions, including exposure to utilities, interconnection, permitting, contracting, and financing.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, engineering, environmental studies, renewable energy, project construction management or similar discipline is preferred.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, project management software, and a CRM system.
  • Ability to work out of the Dana Point, CA or Salt Lake City, UT office a minimum of 3 days per week.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% on average and more as required by projects.
