The Sr. Manager, Gas Power Engineering is responsible for providing technical leadership and project management for natural gas power generation projects, ensuring successful delivery while maintaining safety, environmental, and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of natural gas-fired power generation projects.
Manage project lifecycle activities including feasibility studies, air permitting, engineering design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning.
Oversee and review engineering design packages to ensure compliance with industry codes, environmental regulations, and company standards.
Manage external consultants and collaborate with internal stakeholders to support project development and construction.
Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and risk management plans.
Ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are integrated into all project phases.
Provide technical expertise on gas turbines, combined cycle systems, HRSGs, and balance of plant systems.
Coordinate with grid operators, regulatory agencies, and permitting authorities to secure approvals and ensure compliance.
Develop standards, processes, and best practices for gas generation project design and implementation.
Drive continuous improvement by identifying lessons learned and best practices across projects.
Requirements
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in power generation, with significant expertise in natural gas fired technologies such as simple cycle, combined cycle, or cogeneration.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is strongly preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering.
Proven track record managing large, complex engineering construction projects.
Strong knowledge of gas turbine technology, thermodynamics, plant operations, and system integration.
Excellent project management skills, with experience in schedule, budget, and risk management.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with senior leadership, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
Ability to work in the Salt Lake City, UT or Dana Point, CA office a minimum of 3 days per week.
Ability to travel up to 20% as required.
